Ovogodišnja, 94. dodjela filmske nagrade Oscar održat će se 27. marta u Los Angelesu u Dolby Theateru. Ceremonija se trebala održati 27. februara, no odgođena je zbog porasta zaraze omikron varijantom koronavirusa.
Nominacije su predstavili komičar i dobitnik nagrade Emmy Leslie Jordan ("Will i Grace" i "The Help") te Tracee Ellis Ross ("Black-ish").
Za titulu najboljeg filma godine borit će se čak deset naslova. Akademija je u kategoriji najboljih nominirala filmove "Belfast", "CODA", "Ne gledaj gore", "Drive My Car", "Dina", Kralj Richard", "Licorice Pizza", "Nightmare Alley", "The Power of the Dog" te "Priča sa zapadne strane."
Kategorija najbolje sporedne glumice donijela je iznenađenja. Prema predviđanjima EW-a i Varietyja, nominaciju su zaradile Kirsten Dunst za "The Power of the Dog" , Aunjanue Ellis za film "King Richard" i Ariana DeBose za Spielbergov mjuzikl "West Side Story", no Jessie Buckley za ekranizaciju romana Elene Ferrante "Mračna kći", i Judi Dench za film "Belfast" reditelja Kennetha Brannagha imena su koja su se neočekivano pojavila među pet favorita.
Prema EW i Varietyju, Ciaran Hinds ("Belfast") Troy Kotsur ("CODA") te mladi Kodi Smit-McPhee očekivano su nominirani u kategoriji najboljeg sporednog glumca, a uz njih su se na popisu našli i Jessie Plemons ("The Power of the Dog") te J.K. Simmons ("CODA").
Uspjeh s dodjele Zlatnih globusa, iznenađujuće, nisu ponovili filmski supružnici Caitriona Balfe i Jamie Dorman ("Belfast").
Za najbolji internacionalni film nominirani su danski film "Flee", talijanski film "The Hand of God", japanski film "Drive My Car", butanski film "Lunana, the yak in the Classroom" te norveški romantični film "The Worst Person in the World."
